At the end of every year, we gather the troops and depart out to the desert for our annual Salton Sea bikepacking adventure. My group, a gang of mismatched urban cyclists, adventure aficionado and all out bikepacking badasses, join me on a 2 day traverse through the desert that looks like it was set in another world. Which it basically is. If you know anything about the Salton Sea, it is most likely in regards to the deteriorating sea and the massive environment catastrophe that it has become. But there is a whole other side to Imperial County that few have experienced.
Whether it's the endless gravel roads, canal roads, OHV trails or vast network of BLM Land, the Salton Sea sure is an Oasis in the Desert. All of the shots displayed below have been taken by our friend and fellow rider Brittany Moser. Major kudos to her for holding it down on the bike as well as operating a manual focus for the entirety of the ride.
